This time, Françoise is not the cook.
The reciepe is from Hervé, one of the two French designers from "Cabine". "Cabine" designed the covers of the cd's "Musique Automatique" and "Do the Bambi".

serves 4
250 g yellow Mung Dal lentils
half a tin of chopped tomatoes
half a tin of coconut milk
2 tbs gheebutter
2 tbs of curry powder
(or 10 curry leaves, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1 and half tbs ground coriander, 1/2 tbs ground ginger and a pinch of asafoetida, you all find it at any indian food shop)
1 tbs of cumin
4 cloves of chopped garlic
1 onion
1 chopped carrot (small cubes)
fresh coriander (quantity according to your taste)
1 big cup of water
Wash and drain the lentils. Bring to the boil 1 and half pint of water and the lentils for 15 mn.
Then add the chopped tomatoes in. Mix and simmer for 8/10 minutes over a low heat.
In a seperate saucepan, grill all the spices for 40 seconds (don't burn them), then add the Gheebutter and chopped garlic/onion. Fry for 2 mn till it's lightly browned. Pour the mixture with the lentils and add the coconut milk over a low heat again for 5 mn.
Add fresh chopped coriander leaves when you serve. Delicious with Basmati rice.
